Class Descriptions

At Balance Yoga we offer a variety of styles of yoga so our classes are accessible for people with varying levels of experience and goals. Ranging from more strength based, vinyasa flow and sculpt classes, to beginner friendly, gentle, restorative and relaxation based practices, each of our class offerings will provide you with a multitude of benefits for your body and mind.

Vinyasa Flow

Flowing through fluid yoga postures with coordinated and guided breath, this class provides the physical benefits of strengthening the body and improving flexibility, while also calming the mind. You may notice some sweat as you move through this style of yoga class! Think of it as “meditation in motion” to help eliminate tension in the mind & body. Modifications are offered to make this energetic class suitable for all levels of practice. Class concludes with time in savanna/relaxation to help you reset before you step off your mat and into the rest of your day! (Offered Mondays 5 PM, Wednesdays 10 AM)

Slow Flow

Similar to a Vinyasa flow class in that we still connect movement and breath, but with a slower pace. There is more opportunity to hold poses for a longer time and to breathe within the postures. The transitions will also be slower, so fewer poses will be practiced overall. Since more time is spent in each pose, new students will be able to better familiarize themselves with the poses, making this type of class an excellent place to start for those new to vinyasa flow yoga. Beginner friendly/all levels. (Offered Tuesdays 10 AM)

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slow paced yoga practice that primarily focuses on seated and supine (on the back) poses, consisting of deep stretches, longer holds, and using the various yoga props we have in studio. Poses may be held for up to 5 minutes. Yin yoga helps release built up tension and creates lasting change in the joints, ligaments, and deeper tissues of the body. Mentally, this practice helps build perseverance and presence. Beginner friendly, all levels (Offered Sunday 10 AM, Weds 6:45 PM, Thurs 10 AM, and Thurs 5:30 PM 30 Slow/30 Yin)

Sunrise Yoga

For the Early Birds, this class will set the tone for your whole day! Beginning with breath/centering/intention setting and a slow warm up, this slow flow vinyasa style class builds through standing & balance poses, to seated poses, and finishes with relaxation. Modifications offered for all levels (Offered Thursdays 6 AM)

Yoga Sculpt

Yoga Sculpt is a combination of vinyasa, power yoga, pilates and strength training, designed to create a full body workout. After a traditional yoga-style warm up, you will flow through a combination of traditional standing and balance yoga poses, core work, and full body strengthening with the use of light hand weights at specific points throughout the class. This class will leave you feeling stronger, energized, (sweaty) and refreshed. (Offered Wednesdays 5:30 PM)

Vinyasa Spice

Just like it sounds…a vinyasa flow class, but with a little extra spice! The “spice” level may be a little more than in our regular flow class, but always with modifications to still make this class accessible for all. Some mat Pilates and core strengthening drills will be incorporated, as will some time to stretch, rest and reset as the class winds down (Offered Fridays 9:00 AM)

This is a restorative yoga class with Reiki healing and gentle Thai yoga stretches ~ experience deep relaxation for the mind, body & soul. This class will help to soothe the nervous system, release chronic pain, enhance your mood/well being & promote better sleep. Along with being guided into fully supported restorative poses, you will also receive Reiki healing and some gentle Thai yoga stretches to help open and balance the energy flow in and around the body. All levels, beginner friendly (Offered Sundays at 4:30 PM)

Restorative Yoga

“Falling out of balance doesn’t matter, really and truly. How we deal with that moment and how we find our way back to center, every day, again and again - that is the practice of yoga…it’s about trusting that you will find your way.” (Cyndi Lee)
